Soda Butte Creek, YNP

Soda Butte Creek & Abiathar Peak

Shot from Barronette Meadows.

This slightly overexposed image was shot with a Canon Powershot point & shoot camera, model S30, with a 37mm circular polarizer attached. Image stabilization provided by a true multi-tasker; the Leki (Sierra model) trekking pole/monopod/wading staff combo. Right after this shot was taken I drove into Cooke City and knocked off a liquor store. And that's no no bravo sierra.

ISO 50, f 2.8, 1/250 second exposure and a slight tweaking of the contrast during post processing.

Sustenance provided by Helen's Corral Drive-In Burgers in Gardiner, Montana. Bear Spray provided by Counter Assault.

I swear...just to the right of picture dead center on the far bank is where the Chief saw a small grizzly last August. I wish however that you did not post this because I just damn near forgot that I was not going to be fishin this lovely stream this year. Just downstream I swear about 200 yards is where the Chief caught more cutthroats than he deserved last year including an 18 incher. I measured it with a notched stick if you really need to know.

Got 'em on gray drakes too if I recollect.

I'll bet that was really Greg G in need of a decent haircut. Either way, pepper spray will keep both of 'em out of your face.

Chief - been a long time since I rock and rolled there too. Despite reports of me stalking the bank,I didn't get to fish. The sheriff that cuffed me for attempting to break the sound barrier in Cooke City(didn't want to miss the spinner fall, and I still think Wade tipped him off to my impending arrival)cut my hair just after that "bear" sighting, then he sent me up the pass to clean up the highway construction port-a-pots and work off a few community service hours.

Sumpin tells me those road workers are fishermen - I'd be in no hurry to finish a job that could put me somewhere on the Lamar system every evening through summer and early fall for like 10 years straight...and neither were they.

I almost cut my hair too. Happened just the other day.

It's getting kind of long.
